Here’s one for your Sweet Tooth

Do you like sweets?  I am guessing, yes :).  I thought you would like a few ideas that you might want to switch for sweets (at least some of the time), so here they are:

  • Candy?  Candy has almost no nutritional value, except caloric energy and will quickly end up stored on your body in the form of unwanted fat.  Try this:  Unsalted nuts, or a few pieces of unsweetened, dried fruit.
  • Baked Goods?  Cookies, brownies, cake, donuts and pies have lots of sugar.  They might not taste quite as sweet as candy, but the combination of refined sugar and white flour will spike your blood sugar just the same.                                                                                                                 Try this:  Fresh seasonal fruit!  Fruit is nature’s candy.
  • Soda Pop?  A regular can of pop contains the equivalent of 10 packets of sugar.  Wow!  Can you believe that?                                                                Try this:  Simply (even if it’s hard) take pop out of your diet.  Look at the store shelves.  There are tons of alternatives.  You can even make your own healthy blended drinks at home.  Try using fresh fruit, like blueberries, banana, strawberries, a little honey and some water and put in a blender.  Walla!  You have a healthy shake!

Here’s to your sweet tooth and a healthy summer!
